And Life Slaps Us In The Face With A Wet Fish... Again.

Yep. Just as everything is going well and things are starting to look up for the band, Joe lets us all down by being so hopeless and unorganized that this week alone we had to cancel two out of three gigs, and the third one was only played because of our good friend Shane Husbands, who kindly agreed to step in at the last minute for Meridian Point, for old times sake. Unfortunately, because we hadn't practiced as a band for like 3 weeks (because of Joe, grrrr) and hadn't jammed at all with shane for like 6 months now, maybe even more, the gig was just a little bit shit. Oh well, we enjoyed it anyway because we stopped caring about how bad we were and just had fun and enjoyed it. I even had people come up to me afterwards and say how much they enjoyed it because of it.
Anyway, we are now in the process of looking for another bass player. Hmmm, Dejavu all over again. On the plus side, we went to a kick ass party last night after the gig and got very wrecked. Vodka is a good thing on the night, but man my head is hurting now, lol.

Onward and Upward !

After the success of the first gig at the Velvet Lounge, Meridian Point find them selves not only playing for the Velvet Lounge, but also organizing their Thursday slots for them. Meaning we have to find bands to play and equipment to use every Thursday for them, and they pay us! We would be playing too, but for the next two weeks, lady Flo is in France. But don't frown, we are playing the Marrs Bar on the 8th of August, then the Velvet Lounge again on the 9th of August, then the Youthcomm on the 11th! So, plenty of gigs and stuff going on when she gets back.
Oh, and by the way, a film crew who are currently doing some work for the BBC want to come and film us playing at the Marrs Bar on Wednesday the 8th, which should be interesting.
Anyway, for now thats just about it.........

Times A' Changing........

Its true! I know it has been a wile since one of my posts, but thats just cos I've been busy. Basically, since I last posted a lot has happened; The Cobweb Dilemmas have moved on and found another drummer. They wanted me to concentrate on my work with Meridian Point because we both knew that was where I belong.
Secondly, Meridian point have been doing well for them selves. We've basically got the owners of the Velvet Lounge interested in our stuff, and they want us to do a weekly spot there. We are playing this Thursday 19th of July as a first one off gig, if were successful, there will be a contract involved at the end of it. But I will keep ya'll posted.....
Oh yeah, also I'm now single. Hannah basically cheated on me, then left me for the guy who she cheated on me with. But fuck her, I'm better off without her anyway!

Our Chance To Shine !

Well since my last update, I have the finished Cobweb Dilemmas demo which is of course available on myspace at myspace.com/cobwebdilemmas so go and have a listen.
In other news, Meridian Point have been offered to do a very high publicity gig on may 11th at Worcester Rugby Club at Sixways. We are being hired by Npower and it is a charity ball event (i think anyway) but we have been asked to play from like 8pm until about 1am. :S It will be fun, but a hell of a lot of work because this is the biggest thing we have done, and with everything, preparation is everything. I dont know all the details yet, so ill keep ya'll informed.

Update...

Well, its been so long since my last post and a lot has happened. Firstly, I turned 20 a week or 2 ago, and it feels like shit to be in my twenties! :(
Secondly, the meridian point demo is available for listening to at www.myspace.com/meridianpoint so enjoy! I do apologize for the poor recording/mixing quality, it was recorded in a dingy basement and mixed solely by our guitarist, which isn't a good combination! hehehe...
Anyway, my other band, Cobweb Dilemmas, are recording our demo on the 27th and 28th of jan in Rich-Bitch recording studios in birmingham. This one is being professionaly recorded, mixed and mastered so as long as the performance and the actual music on the CD is good, it should be a fairly good listen. This can be found at www.myspace.com/cobwebdilemmas as soon as its done.

Rock And Roll!

I know its been a while since my last post, but I have been somewhat busy as of late. So far, I have finished college and have achieved 3 A-levels at Pass Pass Merit standard, And tonight was Meridian Point's second time playing at the Marrs Bar in Worcester. We also have a gig coming up in TJ's on sunday evening.
Tonight at the Marrs Bar was only a Jamming night, but still, we got to play four songs and the place was packed out again. Even though the band havn't practiced for over a week now, the gig was flawless and went down a storm.
Anyway, I have to go and rock out some more now, so bye bye ! o/

P.S. The demo is almost finished now, It is actually being mixed and finished off as I type. CD's will be available soon...................

First Demo Recorded!!!

On wednesday 21st june, Meridian point all met at John-Joe's house on Tunnel Hill and went into the basement to record. We recorded 6 tracks, which were the songs that we played at TJ's last sunday. Hopefully, whats going to happen now is we are going to finish mixing the demo, get it burnt onto CD and send the Demo's off to various venues and say look, this is our demo, give us some gigs !
We will also sell the demo at our gigs for a small cost (or at least i think we will anyway) so if anyone wants to hear us, contact me and i will see about sending you a demo, or just come to one of our gigs.
I think there is a gig on sunday in barbourne park, at the band stand. But, it is not confirmed yet, so i will post and update as soon as i hear about it. -wade

First Gig

Meridian Point have taken their first step to glory. On sunday the 18th, we had our first gig at TJ's in town. There were quite a few people there, and it was a real success. We got the crowd going pretty well which means our stuff went down well.
We are recording somewhere tomorow, but i have no details where. This means we can get a Demo recorded, which means we can get loads of gigs around worcester !!!

Meridian Point's First Gig !

Thats right folks, we have our first gig and its on sunday 18th at TJ's in worcester. We have only had 3 practices, our fourth is later this afternoon.
The progress we have made as a band is phonominal. We must have wrote 4 songs on our first band practice. We already have about a 20-30 minute set which is pretty tight already, after 3 practices. I really cant wait until we do this gig on sunday!

1st Band Practice = SUCCESS !!!

On tuesday may 30th we had our first band practice. We settled on the name; Meridian Point. Anywhoo, the practice was amazing cos we all got mashed to celebrate. We managed to write about 5 songs, and get the tight which is absolutly amazing ! There is even talk of a performance this sunday but i will post more as more happens on this subject.
I can see there is so much potential in this band, and i know we can get big if we really try. We play a sort of funky experimental progressive-jazz, but i love it....

New Band !!!

Well, me and some of the guys from Purple Ink have formed a new band! Theres myself on drums, Rio on guitar, Shane on bass and Flo on lead vocals. Flo is an amazing singer, and she has the loots to boot so she makes the perfect candidate for a front person. Rio has come a long way since Purple Ink, his guitar playing has improved dramatically and he is into his jazz chords a lot at the moment, which is good because im into jazz myself. Shane has put the guitar down, and has picked up the bass. In my opinion, this is a good move. No offence to shane cos he is a great guitar player, and i respect him as a musician, but i just feel he can go further in a band situation if he is playing bass. Some of the stuff we have already done, the bass lines that shane has made are really funky and are amazing. I cant wait until we start gigging, i have a good feeling about this band..... Wade

Congratulations !!!

Well, Me and my girlfriend are engaged. I took her to Ostlers, a very nice resturant (very expensive), and i wined and dined her before asking her to marry me. Instead of giving her a ring, i have her a necklace because the ring I wanted, i couldnt afford after the holiday we just brought. I am planning on getting the ring, and giving it to her when were in Gran Canaria, later this year.
Well, weve been togther for 4 years now, and we plan to marry in 2011, which is some way away yet.

New Drums !!!

Well, its been a while since my last post and in the mean time, ive been out and brought a new 6 piece Tama Rockstar white with a hardware rack. Here are some pictures...

It was a bargin. The drums and the rack cost £525. I got a 10" rack tom, 12" rack tom, 13" rack tom, 14" rack tom, 16" floor tom and a 22" bass drum. The hardware rack alone probably was worth about £400-500 so i think it was a very good deal. Now all i need is to finish off getting those Zildjian ZXT Titanium Cymbals. I so far have the 16" crash, 18" crash and a very heavy 20" ride cymbal - End of this month, im going up to the Birmingham Drum Center to get the rest.

Starting New...

Good News!

We have finished recording Hatrid Of Inoriginality last night, and A Kind Of Lonlyness is almost finished too. The first 2 track CD of Purple Ink will be finished SOON!!!! When it is done I will host it somewhere and put a link up on here so ya'll can preview our demo. What we will do is keep the tracks on the Macs at college and record more songs as we go along and will have our album underway too.

Another thing, it doesnt look like the Paul Pry gig will go ahead, but like I said before, I will keep everyone informed. -Wade

These Are Cool...

Using the Zildjian setup creator on the Zildjian web site, i have designed two drum kits. The first one might seem a bit fimiliar:

The cymbols are: 14" solid Titanium Hi-Hats, 10" Titanium Fast Splash, 16" Titanium Medium-Thin Crash, 18" Titanium Medium-Thin Crash, 18" Titanium Total China, 20" Titanium Rock Ride.
You will notice that this is the same as my current setup, except with the full set of ZXT Titanium cymbols (Yes, the China cymbol is bronze, but thats what it looks like on the setup creator, in the pictures its titanium).

The next picture is my Dream design. When i make it (yes, when :P ) and get a sponsorship my Zildjian (I am being hopeful here, aint i :D ), this is the setup i will have:

This kit is huge. I am not a fan of excessivly huge kits, but this has exactly all the sounds i want. It is a double bass, 5 tom (3 rack, 2 floor) kit with dual Hi-Hats: 14" Avedis Mastersound, 14" ZXT Titanium Solid Hi-Hats, three splash cymbols: 8" Avedis Splash, 9" Oriental Trash Splash, 10" ZXT Titanium Flash Splash, five crash cymbols: 16" Titanium Medium-Thin Crash, 16" Avedis Thin Crash, 17" K Dark Crash Thin, 18" Oriental Crash Of Doom, 20" A Custom Projection Crash, two china cymbols: 17" K Custom Dark China, 20" Oriental Classic China, and one Ride Cymbol: 20" ZXT Titanium Rock Ride. Yes, this is a big kit, and most likely worth £10,000 plus.

Paul Pry Gig

Ok, heres some news about a gig at the "Paul Pry" ( a pub in Worcester City Center) which we are not sure if it is actually going to go ahead. The gig is at the end of this month (ill post excact date/time when I get conformation) and we will be accompanied by a band called "Meet Me At Midnight." As far as I know, they are headlining. Meet Me At Midnight are a band also based in worcester, and 3/4 of them study Music Tech at the Worcester Tech College with myself and Ryhad, and they are very good friends with us.
What the main problem is, is that we (Purple Ink) havn't actually had a full band practice in..... Well, quite a while, put it that way. So, we are not sure if we are going to do the gig or pull out. Its been organised by Shane, without proir consent of the rest of the band. This isnt good news for everyone else because we are not prepared for it in the slightest.
Well, this is all I can say at this time, but I will post more information as and when it comes in. -Wade.

As i promised, here are some pictures and a layout of my kit in its current setup.

Here is a layout of my kit, I change the setup quite regurlarly but this is what it looks like right now:

I soon plan on replacing all of my current cymbols with a set of Zildjian ZXT Titanium cumbols, these will include 14" hi-hats, a 10" splash, a 20" medium-thin ride, an 18" china and I will keep my 16" medium-thin crash, and buy a new 18" medium-thin crash to go with it. I might buy a Zildjian Avedis 8" and 12" splashes to complete my set. I will have one either side of my hi-hat, and the spare one will go between my bass mounted tom and my Ride.

Its been so long...

Its been a while since I last made a post in my blog, a lot has happened. Firstly, purple ink have their first CD underway in at the Worcester Tech College. It will be a 3 track CD as the band havn't anywhere to practice for the last few months. Secondly, my drumming is getting much better, certain people have heard me play, and say that I am up to profesional standard, so I cant be all that bad! ;-P
There will be some pictures of my Tama Rockstar DX and its setup comming up later. I will also post a layout of it.

Ive been busy!

Yeah, well, me and the band have been working hard. We have the drums and guitars down for our demo, now we just have to wait until Jonny is free to do the bass, and the vocals will be done at the weekend. The three tracks that we've done are: 'A Kind Of Lonlyness,' 'Tombi,' and 'Hatrid Of Inoriganality.' The CD will be avail for retail at any all of our gigs, and by email order. NEWS FLASH!!!

Purple Ink are recording their debuit album later in the year.
We are doing this as part of mine and Ryhads FMP (Final Major Project) for college. The album will be recorded this year, and next year, the best song that is on there will have a video and this will also be on the album, as a special eddition so look forward to finally having some final stuff down.

Ok, here is the situation. We have been unable to yet record anything because of certain side projects that have had priority over all else and now since college is now closed until january 4th, it seems that january the 4th will be the earliest we can loan a 4 track recorder and get some stuff down. New Album

Good news my friends, there is an album in planning. I say planning, me and Rio are going to start recording next week (hopefully) to mini disc and we will just write a bunch of songs and record them. Once we have a good few tracks, i simply take the mini disc into college and use the equipment there and burn it to CD.

A new start.

Today, me and my good friend and calaborator, Ryhad, started workin on some new stuff, after the breakup of Purple Ink. I mean, were not a band, were more partners. if we could find other people to jam with us, maybe then we might be a band. But yeah, we started on some new material. the first song were working on is a really mellow accoustic song. Very mellow.
For those who have heard us play before, and are used to our style of music, this is very different. Even I am singing in it. Thats how different it is.
When we have finished it, i will see if i can get a recording of it done to put up here because it is such a beautiful song.

This is my drum kit. Its a very old Tama kit. When I got it, it cos me £100 second hand, and i got;
1 x 22" bass drum,
1 x 12" tom
1 x 13" tom
1X 16" floor tom
1 x 13" snare,
1 x 14" hi-hat
1 x 16" Meinl crash
1X 20" Meinl ride.

Of course, since then I have added a lot and changed the setup quite a few times. The picture you see above is my full setup. I have a practice setup aswell, because I dont have a lot of space wher my drum kit is, i have two main setups.
